Solidarity in Music through Religion

" Solidarity in Music through Religion "

When we talk about the world, we talk about nations. When we talk about nations, we talk about people. Talking about people, we can see there are wide varieties of traditions and cultures all over the world. Unfortunately, this world we live in is lacking in unity.  Unity suppose to be the core of everything especially in the world of music entertainment.  Just like a song, some of us are able to notice which one has unity and which one don’t.  Unity in music isn’t only comes from the tone produced from instruments itself. It comes from the musicians who are working with the song. Unity or harmonization comes from the motive of writing the song and the attitude or character of the musicians in his daily life. That harmonization can be produced by harmonizing ourselves with our surroundings; our family, our friends, our listeners, our fans, our fellow musicians and the religion that they believe. Why did I mention about religion? The reason is one. Respecting other people and the believe they hold on to, can produce a peaceful harmonization and solidarity in the world of music entertainment because everyone deserves and wants to be respected.

Don‘t put yourself in a particular classes. That is a great start to harmonization or unity. If we pay attention, many musicians never realize the importance of considering people outside of their religion. A person who pays attention to their own kind is considered is kind. But a person who pays attention to everyone including people outside of their religion isn’t only considered as kind but also thoughtful and wise. Lastly, someone who neglect other religions is considered as foolish. Once again we have to remember, unity is the core of music. When a musician respect only a particular class of people, only some people love their music. But when a musician respects everybody lots of people love them and their music. There was a case just recently about an Indonesian musician who insulted other religion and he shared his statement to the press. Just a day after that lots of people lose their respect for this guy.

Get the initiative of doing something good. When we are all able to respect, we have to go to the next level. When unity starts to shape by attitude, we have to build it even more by deeds. Not many musicians take heed of this one. Anyone who have the initiative of doing something good is considered not only as someone kind and wise, but also generous. Generous isn’t always by giving gifts as in materials. It can be many things. Anything that is called sharing, can be considered as generous. Maybe we can start from religious holidays. When we notice that another religion is celebrating their own holiday, we can get the initiative is giving them greetings through anything like greeting card, posters, flyers, and sometimes we can put them in an advertisements. Through this way, we and our music is uniting itself with the surroundings from what we do.

Always think positive in any time and anywhere. Regardless of  what the others think you have been doing for other religions, never put the negatives on our minds. God created us musicians, to share good things, good messages to everyone no matter what religion they believe and no matter where they comes from. Always remember that our worries and doubts can always be seen in our music. We have to be very careful with that. No matter who comes to us and compliments our music even though they got no religion at all or whatever, always think positive about them. As long as what they share to us is something good, we have to accept it with an open heart. Having too much of negative thoughts is human’s nature. But it is our decision to think positive and it gets easier when we always practice doing it.

The three point that have been mentioned is basically talking about what we do for others. But if we read carefully, those are talking about how to take great care of the music we made and our legacy as musicians to future generations. We have been creating an image of what people think of us starting from the first time we start music career.  And that image will lasts very long and sometimes until forever. We are the one to choose who will be become.
