Preventing Competitions
Discussing about work and career,
we always come to several occasions where we find what is called as
competition. Competitions are basically about competing to be the number one
sometimes number two and three. It always happens in many aspects of life. That
is the very essence of competition. There are lots of kinds of competitions and
it depends on the motive of competing. But when a competition is regarding work
or career, we can say or consider it as “unhealthy. “Why is it unhealthy? There are many reasons
which we will mention and discuss together. No matter who started it first,
somebody will have to stop it for the goodness of the other work partners.
There is also a way to stop it. It will be mentioned at the very last part of
this article.
Competitions regarding career or
work firstly will give stress. It automatically happens to anyone who isn’t
ready for it maybe in physical conditions, in experience and sometimes in
education and supports. It brings something good for the one who started the competition
but that definitely not the right thing to do to other people. Anyone have to
be ready in this one because the more we put it into our minds, it will create
bitterness and will give us bad effects such as bad physical conditions,
character murder, and mental breakdown. What is meant by character murder is
when a person is losing the real them. For instance, a person who had so much
confidence in him but somehow losing all those confidence because of bad rumor
of him. This thing happens in many aspects of life including in the
entertainment industry. There are many cases about people that has mental
breakdown because of character murder, not only because of insults, but because
too much of competitions regarding their work or career. The moment they feel
competed, they start losing their mind and having mental disorder.
Secondly, we are working not to
be the number one, but to be the best. There is a huge difference in this one,
if we are trying to be the number one, it means that we put ourselves in a
competition and we want to better than anyone else. And we can get it in many
ways, good and bad ways because we put our priority in ourselves. When we are
trying to be the best, we put the priority also in other people. We want to be
the best in doing what is good. “Best “is sometimes equals to good. Remember,
what was mentioned in the second article. The purpose of us working is not to
compete, but to bring goodness to everybody.
One of the most important things
about this is, it drives you away from your destiny. Anyone who is passionate
about their work will try hard to reach their destiny with a great focus. But
once they are distracted with many things, we are no longer focusing on what
needs to be focused because we will only be focusing on competing with others.
In this case, we will start to become selfish and sometimes prideful as well. A
person with too much of selfishness won’t really go anywhere and reach destiny
because in every humans’ destiny there are no selfishness. God created every human’s
destiny to be good.
Before we want to compete, let us
all stop and think for a while, “ does it makes me perfect? “ The more we think
that we are better than anyone, the more we show our weaknesses. And sometimes
it gives an ugly scar for us. The way to prevent competition is actually quite
simple. Don’t compete with anyone. Once we compete, someday sooner or later we
will be competed with other people. Realize that the moment we start competing
there are lots of other people better than us. And we better be ready for it.
Everyone has their own abilities and weaknesses that sometimes cannot be
compared. It is always good to make something good and right as your
motivation. But never ever make defeating people as a motivation to reach
destiny because it will gives other people a reason and a chance to make your
failure as their motivation as well. Imagine a circle. When we think we’re
stuck inside it, all we got to do is decide to get out from that circle.
